Thysanoptera of Japan

Thrips syringae Masumoto & Okajima, 2013

This species has been collected from the leaves of Oleaceae such as Syringa reticulate and Legustrum species, and is currently endemic to Japan. It is very similar to T. nonakai in having a fore wing with two dark bands, but it can be distinguished from the latter species by having the metasutum with campaniform sensilla (campaniform sensilla absent in T. nonakai).
